We next headed up to gold country, we stopped for a week at a caravan park at Erica just south of Walhalla. The guys that owned the park were great and made us welcome and we had a laugh with them and the others that worked there over the week. The town is tiny but had a pub that did great food and a general store that did coffee. We saw our second Koala here and it was running, we also found out they have got arms and legs like a gibbon, not what we expected.
There gold in them there creeks (apparently)
Me trying out the metal detector and gold panning.
Views of Walhalla a historic gold mining town that has been restored. Great information about the various buildings accompanied by old photographs all around town. It also had a stream railway which you could go on. Only around 20 residence still live here the others are holiday homes. We had a drink in the Wally pub! They serve some mean wedges! We found out that Wally is what the locals call Walhalla.
Thompson Dam north of Erica it was impressive. It has the capacity of 1,068 billion litres, and makes up about 60% of Melbourne's total storage capacity! Yep it was big!
